The GYT campaign is a youthful, empowering social movement to reduce the spread of sexually transmitted infections among young people through information, open communication with partners, health care providers, parents, and testing and treatment as needed.
Launched in 2009 as a special promotion for It’s Your (Sex) Life, GYT is an ongoing public information partnership of MTV and Kaiser.
Approximately one in two sexually active young people will get a sexually transmitted infection (STI) by 25. Of the estimated 19 million new STIs that occur each year in the United States, most will go undiagnosed. The only way to know for sure if you have an STI is to Get Yourself Tested.
The weeklong series will include educational events, programs and activities for students to attend: Healthy Mondays, Wellness Wednesdays, Safe Sex Kits and a Sexy Trivia Night.
STI testing will also be available by appointment Monday-Friday during the academic year at WSU Health and Wellness Services and at Semcac Clinic, 76 West Third Street.
