Each semester I host a program called “Working on a Dream” for our campus radio station, KQAL 89.5 FM. In the spring, I co-host with the Student Association President, and we select a theme—everything from Broadway showtunes, “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things,” “Endings and Beginnings,” to this year’s theme of “Minnesota.”
As this spring’s show approached (see shameless plug below), I began to think about the theme of a playlist that could encapsulate everything that we as a community are experiencing during this strange, strange time. It was too difficult to come up with a single playlist that spoke to our moment, so instead I came up with four separate playlists, each one designed to mirror the mood of the remaining weeks of the semester.
I hope you’ll enjoy the first in this series, entitled “What’s Going On?”
Sincerely yours,
Scott R. Olson
President
PS – Tune in to enjoy “Working on a Dream” from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, on KQAL 89.5 FM or listen online at www.kqal.org. WSU Student Association President Ben Ellgen and I will be serving as guest DJs, and the theme of the show will be “Minnesota” — featuring Minnesota-based artists and songs. (Please note that due to social distancing requirements, the show will be pre-recorded.)
