larry_jacobs_head_shotWinona State University’s 2016-2017 Lyceum Series will host Lawrence R. Jacobs at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 27, in Stark Hall, room 103.

Jacobs is the Walter F. and Joan Mondale Chair for Political Studies and Director of the Center for the Study of Politics and Governance in the Hubert H. Humphrey School and the Department of Political Science at the University of Minnesota.

A 15-time published author, Jacobs focuses on presidential politics, elections, public opinion and a range of public policies. He has received grants from the Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, Pew Charitable Trusts, National Science Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, among others.

Due to the timing and saliency of the 2016 election, his visit provides an excellent opportunity to heighten the level of critical thinking and reflection around political participation and electoral politics.

Since 1989, the Lyceum Series has presented events and presentations for the Winona and Rochester communities that provide unique cultural enrichment and educational opportunities. The Lyceum Series aims to provide speakers in a variety topics, such as the sciences, the arts, politics, literature, popular culture, and more.
