The Winona State University Inclusion and Diversity Office will host the exhibit “Commemorating Controversy: The Dakota – U.S. War of 1862” Monday, Sept. 10, through Thursday, Sept. 13, in the Student Activity Center, Kryzsko Commons.

The twelve panels of the traveling exhibit explore the war’s causes, voices, events and long-lasting consequences. The exhibit was produced by Gustavus Adolphus College students in conjunction with the Nicollet County Historical Society.

The project was funded by Gustavus Adolphus College, Nicollet County Historical Society, Minnesota Humanities Center, Minnesota Historical Society and the people of Minnesota by a grant funded with an appropriation to the Minnesota Historical Society from the Minnesota Arts and Culture Heritage Fund.

The Student Activity Center is open from 8 a.m.-midnight Monday through Friday.
