Winona State University will present “Taking Care of Your Health In A Weight Focused World” at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, in the Student Activity Center, Kryzsko Commons.
The event will encourage attendees to talk about weight and wellness in ways that positively impact individuals’ self-esteem rather than promote unhealthy weight control behaviors and poor body self-esteem. The event also will focus on how to promote positive body image, self-esteem, and optimal health and wellbeing through joyful activity, nutrition and self-care.
The event is sponsored by WSU’s Health, Counseling & Wellness Services and The Emily Program. The Emily Program is the national leader for eating disorders, helping to create personalized treatment plans for patients with an eating disorder to help guide their journey to recovery.
Health promotion programming aims to increase awareness, knowledge and skills to sustain a healthy lifestyle. These programs are designed to challenge and provide personal growth and development for all Winona State University students. Sponsored by numerous campus partners including Health & Wellness Services, The RE Initiative, Student Health & Wellness Advocates, HERS Practicum, Counseling & Wellness Services, Semcac Clinic, Public Health Club, SHAG, FAN Club, Outdoor Recreation Education Center and Fitness & Wellness Services.
