VA officeWinona State University has been named a military friendly school for 2015, according to Victory Media’s 2015 guide to Military Friendly schools.

According to the guide, Winona State actively recruits and supports members of the military and is among the 1,500 schools that qualified for the guide.

Within Career Services at Winona State there are Veteran Resources available, including links to job search websites, links for military students and a My Military GPS LifePlan.

“WSU helps veterans return to the learning community for academic success,” said Carl Stange, director of admissions and veteran certifying official. “The veterans office assists in coordinating distribution of veteran benefits, serves as a link to area veteran services, and supports a student veteran organization to help them stay connected to those who have served.”

WSU has received the military friendly designation annually since 2012.

Military Friendly schools practice active recruitment and retention of students in the military, and they provide programs and policies for student support. The schools also provide academic accreditation, credit policies and flexibility for their military students.
