The Winona State University Outdoor Education and Recreation Center will host the first annual Big Muddy Canoe Challenge at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Kiwanis Shelter on Prairie Island.
Teams of two will portage through obstacles on the waters of the Mississippi River.
Funds from the event will support the creation of outdoor opportunities for the Winona community.
Registration will be from 8-10 a.m. the day of the event. The cost is $15 per person and $10 if you supply your own canoe. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes to the event.
