Winona State University has been accepted as an associate member of the University Sales Center Alliance (USCA), joining 21 full members and 15 associate members across the country.
Established in 2002, USCA is a consortium of sales centers that connects university faculty members with different backgrounds and areas of expertise to promote the advancement of the sales profession through teaching, research and outreach. The primary benefit of membership is the ability to network and share teaching and research ideas with faculty serving in sales centers throughout the country.
WSU established a business-to-business sales center, the Center for Sales Excellence, in December 2013 and a Professional Selling minor in the Department of Marketing in fall 2011. Courses offered include Professional Selling, Advanced Professional Selling and Sales Account Management, as well as a required Sales Practicum in the form of an Internship or participation in the WSU Sales Team.
The Center for Sales Excellence will open a new training facility in spring 2015. This facility will include a classroom designed and equipped specifically for teaching sales theory and fundamental communication skills necessary throughout business. Sales students also have the opportunity to experience hands-on involvement in the sales process through internships, role-plays and national sales competitions.
For information, email Director of the Center for Sales Excellence Marianne Collins or Marketing Department Chair Bob Newberry.
