Cabaret Poster

Winona State University’s Theatre and Dance Department will host a Musical Theatre Cabaret at 7 p.m. Sunday, May 4, at the Performing Arts Center, Main Stage.

Students enrolled in the course THAD 395: Acting for Musical Theatre will showcase their work in a musical theatre cabaret. The music that will be performed ranges from golden age musicals such as Oklahoma and The King & I to contemporary musicals such as Into the Woods and Chicago.

This event is free and open to the public.

Throughout the semester, students have learned how to develop a basic technique of healthy singing production through the use of basic warm-ups and practice habits. Students gained knowledge of techniques and analysis combining the disciplines of acting, singing, and movement with musical theatre. Another course objective was for students to learn and develop effective vocal and dramatic interpretation, physicality, and gesture and their relationship to each other based in the Stanislavski System.

WSU students involved with the production are: Brady Beckman (Apple Valley, MN), Garrett Bowling (Eagan, MN), Brett Burger (Andover, MN), Jessica Clarke (Rushford, MN), Shelley Gorak (Winona, MN), Lydia Graddy-VanDenBerg (Byron, MN), Brad Krieger (Maplewood, MN), Brooke May (Redwood Falls, MN), Kayla Nelson (Chatfield, MN), Taylor Nyman (Monroe Center, IL), Anthony Schliesman (Rochester, MN), Megan Smith (Baldwin, WI), Thomas Sonneman (Winona, MN) and Erin Zoromski (Lake City, MN).
