Social WorkThe Winona State University Social Work Program is ranked among the best programs in Minnesota in The College Database’s new ranking, “Top Colleges in Minnesota: Fighting for Families and Children.”

WSU was ranked sixth in Minnesota, awarding 90 degrees in social work in 2012.

“The social work department at Winona State University has been accredited by the Council on Social Work Education for thirty years,” said Cathy Faruque, department chair. “We offer our students the opportunity to be engaged in the community through various learning activities, including engaged learning in the classroom and agency-based internships. Social work students learn the values, skills and knowledge necessary to attain licensed and secure positions as social work practitioners.”

The College Database used data from the Integrated Post-secondary Education Data System, the National Center for Education Statistics and Carnegie Classification.

Universities were ranked based on reputation, facilities and educational opportunities. Qualifying schools must be 4-year, fully accredited, public or private, not-for-profit colleges in the United States.

Winona State has also been recognized by The College Database for providing high quality education at an affordable price.
