Winona State University will offer the Senior University course “Classic Greek Drama” beginning Monday, Nov. 4.
The class will be taught by WSU professor emeritus Emilio DeGrazia. It will cover background on Greek drama, including the role of drama as a religious festival. Major works that will be studied are Sophocles’ “Oedipus the King,” Aeschylus’ “Prometheus” and “The Oresteia,” Euripides’ “The Bacchae,” and a film version of “The Trojan Women.”
DeGrazia has had a persistent interest in ancient Mediterranean and Middle Eastern mythologies. At Winona State, he has taught classes in ancient mythology and examples of Greek classical drama at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
The class will meet for five weeks from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Mondays, Nov. 4, 11, 18, 25 and Dec. 2, in Minne 257.

The class is open to the public and costs $40.
Senior University WSU consists of four to five-week, non-credit courses with no tests, grades, papers or homework. Courses are taught by WSU faculty, retirees and community members. The courses promote continued life-long learning and personal, intellectual and cultural enrichment.
