WSU-Abdel-Magid-BeckryThe Winona State University Athenaeum Series will host “Industry-Driven Research Projects for Students” at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, on the second floor of the Darrell W. Krueger Library.

Composite Materials Engineering Professor Beckry Abdel-Magid will discuss student research projects that involved direct interaction with local and regional companies. The projects, which were funded by a WSU Next Chapter Grant, allowed the students to work on practical problems and put them in direct contact with professionals in the field. In the end, the students shared their results with scientists and engineers from various companies in the region.

All WSU Athenaeum Series events are free and open to the public.

The Athenaeum hosts events that explore and enhance the intellectual life of the University and the region through lectures, readings, performances, discussions and other events. By bringing together scholars, performers, students and community members for intellectual discussion and the sharing of cultural experiences, the Athenaeum reflects the importance the University places on the humanities, the arts and the sciences.
