The Winona State International Music Series will present “Pipa Music of China” at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.

Gao Hong, soloist and composer, will demonstrate traditional Pipa music of China. The pipa is a four-stringed instrument called a lute, which is one of the oldest Chinese instruments.

Hong began her musical career at the age of 12. She has performed with symphonies and as a soloist at venues throughout the world.
