Winona State University has been recognized as a 2024 Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge for its efforts in boosting nonpartisan engagement and student voter participation.

Winona State joins 471 colleges and universities across the nation recognized by ALL IN for completing four core actions:

“Faculty and students worked tirelessly this fall to help all eligible students register and make a plan to vote,” said Adam Gaffey, Department Chair and Associate Professor of Communication Studies.

Through information booths, engagement activities, and even opportunities to walk together to early voting locations, the efforts of the student-led organization Warriors Vote positively impacted Winona State’s campus culture by empowering fellow students to exercise their right to vote, Gaffey said.

Jennifer Domagal-Goldman, the Executive Director of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge, said efforts like those made at Winona State have largely impacted the overall engagement of college-age students.

“This year we saw more colleges than ever before step up their efforts to ensure that their students were registered and ready to make their voices heard at the ballot box,” said Domagal-Goldman. “These Most Engaged Campuses are setting the standard for nonpartisan civic engagement work for colleges and universities across the country.”

Gaffey said he’s proud of the recognition and even more proud of the impact the group made on campus.

“We are thrilled to be recognized as one of the Most Engaged Campuses for College Student Voting from the ALL IN Democracy Challenge,” Gaffey said.
