Winona State University students from Tau Kappa Epsilon and Pi Lambda Phi fraternities, Fighting for Our Rights Gender Equality, National Organization of Men Against Sexism, Wo/men’s Initiative for Learning and Leadership (WILL), and Embrace will sponsor Winona Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Saturday, Oct. 27, in Winona.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is a one-mile walk in red women’s high heels to raise money and support the fight to end domestic violence and sexual assault, sexual harassment and rape. Males will walk in high heels, and females will walk and support the males as they struggle through the difficulty of walking in heels. Men and women are encouraged to attend as individuals or as teams of walkers.

To register, visit the Walk a Mile In Her Shoes Facebook page. The registration deadline is Oct. 15. Shoes are provided with registration.

Shoe pick-up and registration will start at 1:30 p.m. Participants will start at 3 p.m. at Windom Park on Huff and Broadway, walk to the Women’s Resource Center where they will have the opportunity to have their photograph taken on the steps of the WRC, and then walk back to Windom Park.

Money raised will benefit the Women’s Resource Center in Winona.

The event will include topical speakers sharing their stories.

This event is made possible by a Warrior Grant received this spring to bring To Walk a Mile in Her Shoes to Winona.
