Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and all those who are affected.

To the WSU Community,

On Sunday, June 12, a heinous act of terror was committed in Orlando, Florida. This type of violence and hate has no place in civilized society, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and all those who are affected.

I speak for the entire WSU community when I say that any bigotry or violence against the LGBTQ community is completely unacceptable. Our individual differences are what deepen our understanding of one another and the world around us, not divide us. We must lead by example and continue to create a WSU that is safe for and welcoming to all.

Counseling and support services are available on campus. For more information, visit winona.edu/counselingservices.

I encourage you to turn to each other for support and to keep in mind our WSU students and alumni/ae who are also members of the greater Orlando family. Let us all stand together against hate and bigotry.

Sincerely,

Scott R. Olson
President
