Warrior and mentor

I am proud of the recent competitive accomplishments of our Warrior athletes. The Warriors football team won the Mineral Water Bowl in early December and two of our cross country women Warriors earned All-American status at the national championship. Student athletes schedule their days to include class, study time and practice, plus travel frequently for games – but they also make time for community service.

This year athletics launched a new mentoring program, the Junior Warrior Club. Children ages K-6 throughout the community are invited to participate. Each participant is paired with an athlete. Warrior athletes connect with their friend’s family and join their friend at recess and lunch twice a month. The children also come to campus during each of the sporting seasons to join their Warrior athlete in sporting activities. Funded in part by community partner Wells Fargo, this new program helps our student athletes foster special relationships while staying on track with their education goals.
