Fall semester is one of my favorite times of the academic year. We have the honor of welcoming our students back to the campus and community, and the excitement and intellectual vitality they contribute is palpable. It is the highest marker of our abiding quality that we have a full house once again.
We congratulate the entire university on achieving reaccreditation from the Higher Learning Commission. Having served as an HLC peer reviewer, I know just how arduous the process can be! I want to give special recognition to the committee that led the process and to the College of Nursing for achieving accreditation for the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program, our first standalone applied doctorate program. Offering doctoral programs was at best a hope or dream of those who have acted as stewards of WSU for the past 154 years, but now it’s a part of who we are.
