A magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Nepal over the weekend.

The magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Nepal over the weekend has caused significant loss of life and destruction. We have four students from Nepal currently on campus and more than 100 Nepalese alumni/ae across the world. To all those who are affected by this tragic event, please know that we are here to help you in any way that we can.

To raise awareness, WSU student Sourab Bhatta will fast for 24 hours outside of Kryzsko Commons, starting Wednesday, April 29. He will hold a vigil at the completion of his fast at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at the Alumni Gazebo.

In addition, WSU alumnus Amit Khanal has set up the Nepal Earthquake Relief Fund to assist relief efforts in Nepal. Visit www.gofundme.com/nepal-quake-help for more information or to contribute.

I encourage all members of our community to consider ways in which we can participate in relief efforts, from personal donations and fundraising projects to other kinds of humanitarian aid and support.

As members of a global community, we are deeply concerned for everyone affected by this tragic event, and our hearts go out to all our Nepali Warriors and to their families and friends.
