Q: What is purple and dances the night away?
A: A very special Gala to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Winona State University Foundation.
Since the Foundation’s humble beginning in 1963, members of the Foundation Board have shared a “special conviction that academic excellence needs encouragement and financial support.” The foresight of these individuals has reaped untold benefits for thousands of students and the university. Numbers tell part of the story. In 1968 the Foundation had a total of $29,378 in assets – today the endowment is $24.6 million, with assets totaling more than $36 million. However, numbers alone can’t demonstrate the generosity of donors, the dedication of trustees and the value of the education so many students have received. We will kick off this yearlong celebration of our Foundation with the Gala on Sept. 20. Kelley and I hope you will join us to honor this remarkable milestone and dance the night away with good friends and colleagues. The best way we can show our appreciation is to celebrate all the good people and good works that have helped make Winona State great.
