Winona State University’s Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies Department will host auditions for “When…” from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the Integrated Wellness Complex, room 145.
The production will be performed at 2 and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25, in Harriet Johnson Auditorium, Somsen Hall.
“When…” is an interactive theatre production based on the theory of Theatre of the Oppressed, which utilizes audience participation to promote a violence-free community.
Artist Megan Rae created “When…” Advocacy Productions in 2009 as a response to students searching for a venue to find their voice and to explore methods to participate in ending rape culture. Rae uses theatre to discuss issues of relationship violence, consent, sexual assault and stimulate an active bystander culture through practice and improvisational acting.
Those who want to audition must sign up by Friday, Oct. 7, in the Integrated Wellness Complex, room 138.
This event is sponsored by the RE Initiative, the Sexual Violence Advisory Committee and the Office of Affirmative Action/Equity.
