The Winona State University Retiree Center will offer the non-credit course “Spring Birding” as part of Senior University 2016 Thursdays from April 7 to May 19.
Participants will partake in various field trips in the Winona area to view the spring bird migration. A headphone tour guide system will be used to facilitate instructor communication with participants on field trips. Field trip schedule listed below:
- Thursday, April 7, 9 a.m. WSU Campus; room to be announced. Optional waterfowl class that day at 3 p.m.
- Thursday, April 28, 9 a.m. Field trip
- Thursday, May 5, 7:30 a.m. Field trip
- Thursday, May 12, 7:30 a.m. Field trip
- Thursday, May 19, 7:30 a.m. Field trip and luncheon
Retired U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service wildlife biologist Eric Nelson and experienced birder Julie McCormick will share their vast knowledge about birds and the hobby of birding during this spring’s birding class.
The course is $40. Registration is available online.
Senior University is open to all people of retirement age in the Winona community. The program is a series of non-credit short courses that are peer-led by WSU faculty, retirees and community members. The goal is to provide intellectual and cultural stimulation and growth for lifelong learners. Courses cover events, history, philosophy, science, art, poetry and literature.
