Winona State University will host the Derek Bute Scholarship Military Challenge Fundraiser from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at Maxwell Field, Altra Federal Credit Union Stadium.
This fitness course can be done as an individual or in a team of three with two different courses available. There is a military and modified version of the course along with activities for children. A video of the Military Challenge can be found online.
The fundraiser cost $25 with participants receiving a poly camo styled t-shirt. If participants want a t-shirt but do not want to participate in the Military Challenge, the cost is $20.

Derek Bute, 25, passed away tragically following an accident in Winona on Sunday, January 17, 2016. Derek was a senior exercise science student with the intent to pursue a physician’s assistant certification following his graduation scheduled for May of 2016.
He was a member of the Minnesota National Guard, serving as a combat medic with the HHC 2-135 Infantry Battalion out of Mankato, Minn. After being deployed with his unit to Kuwait in 2012, he most recently held rank of Sergeant and was a Medic Team Leader while receiving many military awards.
