Winona State University will host the 53rd annual Model Legislature with Representative Gene Pelowski at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Tau Center on WSU’s West Campus.
Public and private school students in grades 6-12 from several areas will participate in the Model Legislature, in which high school students serve as members of the House of Representatives, State Senate and Governor’s Office, and middle school students will serve as pages.
Students from Saint Mary’s University, Winona State University and Minnesota State College Southeast Technical have been invited to attend the Model Legislature to take part as legislators. WSU students teaching secondary Social Studies will administer the nine standing legislative committees and staff the offices of Governor, Speaker of the House and President Pro Tem of the Senate.
Representative Gene Pelowski will run this year’s bill and essay project as part of the Model Legislature.
The 2015 Model Legislature is free and open to the public.
