The Winona State University Department of Theatre and Dance will host a “Contact Improvisation Workshop” with Sharon Mansur from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, in Memorial 300 Dance Studio.
Contact Improvisation is an open-ended exploration of the kinesthetic possibilities of bodies moving through contact. The two-hour movement workshop will teach students how to explore spontaneous physical dialogues that range from stillness to highly energetic exchanges.
To reserve a spot in the workshop, sign up on the PAC Theatre and Dance Call Board. No experience is necessary to attend. Dancers should wear clothes to move in.
Sharon Mansur is an experimental contemporary dance artist specializing in the practices of improvisation, collaborative art making, visual arts, somatics, site-specific dance and performance/installations. She is currently an Associate Professor of Dance in the School of Theatre, Dance, and Performance Studies at the University of Maryland.
