The Winona State University International Music Series will host Music of South America featuring Calle Sur, Los Llaneros and Trio de Colores at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.
Calle Sur is a musical duo consisting of Ed East and Karin Stein. East was born in Panama City, and Stein is from the plains of Columbia. They met in Iowa and together created Calle Sur. The duo performs a wide range of Latin American musical styles on an equally wide variety of instruments.
Harpist Daniel Rojas will join Karin Stein and Ed East to perform music from their trios Los Llaneros and Trio de Colores. Los Llaneros performs the highly energetic and haunting music of the savannas of Colombia and Venezuela. The ensemble was founded in 1978 in Latin America.
Admission is free and open to the public.
