Winona State University will host the theatre performance, “When…” at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, and Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Harriet Johnson Auditorium, Somsen Hall.
“When…” is an interactive theatre production based on the theory of Theatre of the Oppressed that utilizes audience participation to promote a violence-free community. Written by artist Megan Rae, “When…” will be performed by WSU students.
Rae created “When…” Advocacy Productions in 2009 in response to students searching for a venue to help find their voices and explore methods to end rape culture.
Rae uses theatre to discuss the issues of relationship violence, consent and sexual assault by stimulating an active bystander culture through practice and improvisational acting.
“When…” is sponsored by RE Initiative, Sexual Violence Advisory Committee, and the Office of Affirmative Action/Equity.
This event is free and open to the public.
