Winona State University will host a screening of the film “It Happened Here” at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, in the Harriet Johnson Auditorium, Somsen Hall.
“It Happened Here” follows the lives of five sexual assault survivors on college campuses through personal stories and interviews. The film highlights their activism through personal experience of disbelief, blame, retaliation, and being belittled, ignored and shamed while their attackers were allowed to remain on campus.
The film screening will include a collection of feminine hygiene products such as pads and tampons to be donated to the Dorothy Day House in Rochester.
This event is free and open to the public and is hosted by the Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies department and Fighting for Our Rights and Gender Equality (FORGE).
