As part of Women’s History Month, Winona State University will host “Unspeakable,” an art exhibit by Shirl Chouinard, Monday, March 23 through Saturday, April 11, in the lobby of Maxwell Hall.
Chouinard is an award-winning visual artist. Her body of work centers around family violence, sexual assault, femicide and infanticide through life-sized dolls, mixed media sculptures and abstract quilts. With “Unspeakable,” Chouinard aims to focus on the fact that family violence and sexual assault is an issue impacting millions worldwide, leaving a long and devastating legacy with lingering effects that influence its victims through a lifetime.
Chouinard will present “Violence Against Women and Children: A Challenge for Sustainable Human Development” as part of the CLASP Lecture Series on Wednesday, April 8. Both the exhibit and lecture received funding from the WSU Foundation.
