The Winona State University Retiree Center will offer the non-credit course “U.S. Supreme Court and the Constitution” as part of Senior University 2015.
The course will cover the development of constitutional law from 1789 to present, with a focus on the role of the Supreme Court. Other topics covered will include the growth of presidential power, evolution of the Bill of Rights and implicit rights with emphasis on First Amendment rights.
Instructor Matthew Bosworth is a political science professor at WSU. His courses focus on the intersection between law and politics. He is currently studying state legislatures and their responses to court rulings that declare their laws unconstitutional.
The course will run 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Jan. 16, 23 and 30 and Feb. 6 in Minné Hall, room 237.
