Winona State University will host a panel discussion titled “Food, Class and Labor in the U.S.”, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, in the New Center Conference Room.
Author Tracie McMillan, Reverend Warren Green of Fresh Start of Winona, June Reineke of the WSU Children’s Center and a representative from Winona Volunteer Services will participate in the panel discussion.
McMillan wrote this year’s Common Book, The American Way of Eating. The book addresses the dilemma faced by many Americans who want to eat healthy food but aren’t sure they can afford it. McMillan explores labor, economics, politics, and social science to reveal new and surprising truths about how America’s food is grown, sold and prepared.
McMillan will sign copies of the book following the discussion.
