The Winona State University Outdoor Education and Recreation Center will again host the Family Outdoor Adventure Program this summer.
The four-week program meets once per week for activities like GPS geocoaching; canoeing, and kayaking on the Mississippi River backwaters; an outdoor high ropes course; and rock climbing on Sugarloaf.
All activities are facilitated by highly trained and professionally certified instructors, and at least one certified first responder is on site during each outing. All equipment is included, and no previous experience is needed. Participants provide their own transportation to each activity location.
This year the program will offer two sessions. The first session will run 5:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays, June 11, 18, 25 and July 2. The second session will run 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, June 12, 19, 26, and July 3.
Cost for the first family member is $25, with a $15 charge for each additional member and a maximum of four participants per family. Each session will enroll a maximum of 12 families.
Registration is open to the public. For more information or to register, contact the Outdoor Education and Recreation Center at oerc@winona.edu or 507-457-2940.
