Robert O. SelfThe Winona State University Lyceum Series will host “All in the Family: The Realignment of American Democracy since the 1960s” with historian Robert O. Self at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, in Stark Auditorium, room 103.

Self’s talk will focus on gender, sexuality and political culture in the United States from 1964-2004. Self’s research centers around civic action. He sees grassroots organizing and activism as central to reshaping the political landscape in the United States.

Self is an associate professor of history at Brown University, where he teaches and writes about 20th century U.S. culture and history. He has published two books, American Babylon: Race and Struggle for Postwar Oakland, which won numerous awards, and All in the Family: The Realignment of American Democracy since the 1960s, published in 2012.

The event is free and open to the public. A reception will follow the event.

The Lyceum Series aims to provide unique cultural enrichment and education opportunities for the Winona and Rochester communities. It is the premier speaker series at Winona State and was initiated in 1989 to present events that provide unique cultural enrichment and educational opportunities.
