Winona State University will present “Tunnel of Oppression” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, and Thursday, March 6, in East Hall, Kryzsko Commons.
The Tunnel of Oppression is an interactive program in which participants learn about diversity, privilege, power and institutions of oppression. Each booth portrays a different form of oppression or diversity, and participants will have the opportunity to complete a related activity.
There will also be scenes of social injustices and oppression facilitated by Bryant Smith. Smith is a successful author and has been an administrator and faculty member at five different universities. He is an expert on identifying, cultivating and maximizing human potential. At the end of the scenes, participants will be asked to reflect and discuss how the scene has impacted them and how they can be agents of change.
The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
KEAP Diversity Resource Center and the Minnesota State University Student Association are sponsors of the event.
