Winona State University will present “Health in a Weight Focused World” at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24, in the Harriet Johnson Auditorium, Somsen Hall.
This event, part of the Healthy Mondays Series, will focus on how to promote a positive body image and self-esteem, while encouraging optimal health and well-being through joyful activity, self-care and nutrition. The presenter will be Rachel Slater, Ph.D., L.P. of the Emily Program.
The presentation will discuss obesity, weight control and wellness, and how to address these topics in ways that impact an individual’s self-esteem positively rather than promote unhealthy weight control behaviors and poor body self-esteem.
The Emily Program is an outpatient eating disorder treatment center affiliated with the University of Minnesota Medical School. Since 1995, the program has been dedicated to personalized care for people struggling with eating disorders.
This presentation is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
