The Winona State University Department of Music will host the first of three elementary music workshops from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, in Performing Arts Center room 159.
“Engaging Students in Music Making: Assessing Students With Ease” will offer helpful tools and techniques to engage students in the classroom by singing, offering games, storytelling and making music. The workshop will also offer valuable model assessments for aspiring teachers to use.
This workshop it taught by clinician Nyssa Brown. Brown is a choral and general music educator who has taught at schools around the world, including India and Africa. She has also won the Milken Educator Award and was a top ten finalist for 2004 Minnesota Teacher of the Year.
Each workshop costs $25 to attend. If you register by Oct.12, registration for all three workshops is $70.
