Winona State University will host an Astronomy Night at 5:30-10:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Great River Bluffs State Park.
The event includes activities for children of all ages, the opportunity to learn about and touch meteorites, and the exploration of our solar system through models and online resources. Solar scopes and telescopes are available for viewing the Sun, the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn and other deep sky objects.
Jennifer L.B. Anderson, WSU professor of geoscience, will give a talk about the springtime night sky at 6:30 pm. Telescope observation will start at 7:30 pm. Students from the WSU Astronomy Club will be operating the telescopes, running activities and selling hot beverages. Attendees should bring a pair of binoculars and dress for the weather.
The event will occur unless there is severe weather.
Parking at the state park is $5 for a daily pass and $25 for an annual pass.

Directions to Great River Bluffs State Park: Approximately 20 miles southeast of Winona at the junction of U.S. Highway 61 and Interstate 90. Park entrance is accessed off of County road 3. Coming from the west or southeast via I90, take exit 267 and follow park signs. Coming from Winona, south on Hwy 61 (just past mile marker 15), take a right on County Road 3 for 4 miles to the park entrance.
