Winona State University will host “White Teachers and Diverse Classrooms: A Guide to Building Inclusive Schools, Promoting High Expectations and Eliminating Racism” from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, in Dining Rooms E, F and G, Kryzsko Commons.
Julie Landsman, author of “White Teachers/Diverse Classrooms”, will be the keynote speaker for the workshop. Landsman’s book addresses the issue that students of color may find school to be a place of low expectations and failure instead of learning.
The event is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by WSU Rochester, WSU Winona, WSU College of Education, Southeast Technical College and Target Corporation.
