Winona State University will co-sponsor the second Watershed Citizen Summit, hosted by the Whitewater River Watershed Project, at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Tau Center, West Campus.
The summit aims to identify actions needed to protect and restore water quality in the Mississippi River-Winona Watershed. There will be a round table discussion to develop a vision and strategy for restoring and protecting local water resources. Participants will review recently collected water quality data and a new landowner survey.
This event is free and open to the public. A local-foods dinner will be served.
Pre-registration is required, and seating is limited. Pre-register by calling 507-457-6521 or by email at whitewaterwatershed@gmail.com. Include name, address, number of people attending and a contact number. Priority will be given to those representing the agricultural community.
Funding for the Citizen Summit is provided through the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment. The Mississippi River-Winona Watershed includes the Whitewater River Watershed, Stockton-Rollingstone-Minnesota City Watershed District and several small streams such as Snake, East Indian, Burns Valley, Gilmore, Pleasant Valley, Cedar Valley and Big Trout Creeks.
