Winona State University’s Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science Completion Program has been named one of the top nursing programs in Minnesota. The program ranked 2nd in RNtoMSN.org‘s 2023-2024 guide to Minnesota’s best online RN-BSN programs.
RNtoMSN.org, a leading nursing education organization, ranks programs based on affordability, program quality, reputation, and student outcomes.
WSU’s RN-BS program was acclaimed by the organization for its fully online format, flexibility, strong practicums in Population-Based Health Care, and the department’s more than 95 percent job placement rate for Nursing students.
“We offer an accredited, flexible, individualized, online, asynchronous program that fits the needs of working nurses who want to further their nursing education,” the dean of College of Nursing and Health Sciences Julie Anderson, PhD, RN, said. “Students are prepared for leadership and management positions, as well as pursuing future graduate studies in nursing.”
The ranking commends the program for its clinical affiliations with Mayo Clinic, Allina Health, Mercy Medical Center, Gunderson Lutheran Health System, and more.
“Our strong ties with Mayo Clinic provide networking opportunities for both practicum experiences and employment upon graduation,” said College of Nursing and Health Sciences department chair and associate professor Cyndy Jones, DNP, RN. “We are fortunate to have our RN-BS program affiliated with such a strong clinical partner!”
The RN-BS program was praised for its well-connected nursing department where program coordinators, professors, and peers work together to create a supportive learning experience.
“While completing the online courses, I have been allowed to continue my career as a RN in Wisconsin,” said RN-BS student Wynonna Isham. “I have formed networks with other students in the program that have helped me during both group and individual studies. I’m sure the connections I’ve made will help me throughout my nursing career.”
About Winona State University’s RN-BS Completion Program
WSU’s online RN-BS Completion Program allows registered nurses and associate degree holders earn a Bachelor of Science to advance in their Nursing career. Accredited by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the MN Board of Nursing, this program promotes skills in teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and quality control to prepare students for leadership and management roles in public health. Students learn through a blend of online, asynchronous coursework and hands-on practicum experience often performed with WSU’s healthcare partners. Program Coordinators collaborate with each student to design a flexible plan for coursework completion that fits their needs. By graduation, students are equipped to apply for graduate-level Nursing programs, Public Health Nurse certification from the MN Board of Nursing, and a School Nurse license from the MN Board of Teaching.
