Winona State University announces the appointment of Nicole Williams to the position of Dean of the College of Science and Engineering. The appointment was effective Feb. 12, 2024.
Dr. Williams joined Winona State in 2000. She was appointed interim Dean of the College of Science and Engineering in July 2023 and before that, served as chair of the Mathematics and Statistics Department from 2015 to 2023. Dr. Williams was appointed to the faculty at Winona State in 2004 and served as a fixed term faculty member from 2000 to 2002.
Dr. Williams received her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education and her master’s degree in Mathematics from Illinois State University, and her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from University of Maine at Farmington.
The thing that most excites me about being Dean is working with the excellent faculty, staff, and students in the College of Science and Engineering and helping them achieve their goals. We have phenomenal programs, great research, and exciting new opportunities, and I am proud to serve in this role with such wonderful people.
Dr. Williams assumes leadership of the College of Science and Engineering from Dr. Charla Miertschin, who served in the role of Dean from 2012 to 2023.
