Winona State University Dining Services in partnership with Chartwells will collect non-perishable food donations at WSU’s annual Homecoming parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, along the Huff Street parade route. The 2012 Homecoming theme is Blast from the Past.
Donations will be collected for local food shelves. In addition, Dining Services will make a matching contribution.
“In years past we’ve handed out candy and even ramen noodles,” said Bruce Bechtle, director of Dining Services. “This year we decided to switch things up and instead encourage community members to bring donations to help the local food shelves.”
Ideas of donations include but are not limited to; canned fruits, instant potatoes, canned ham, tuna, or chicken, juices, rice, peanut butter, canned stew, chili, spaghetti and hearty soups, dried peas and beans, and complete baking mixes (pancakes, muffins, biscuits).
For more information, contact Bruce Bechtle at BBechtle@winona.edu or call 507-457-5220.
