Winona State University professor emeritus of English Emilio DeGrazia has been named the 2012 poet laureate of the City of Winona. The poet laureate is in charge of promoting poetry in Winona by holding public readings, poetry workshops and other literary events.
DeGrazia taught at WSU for 33 years, retiring in 2002. During his career, DeGrazia won numerous awards and fellowships, including a Minnesota Book Award. He also worked with many arts and literary organizations.
A reception will be held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum.
DeGrazia is Winona’s third poet laureate, following Ken McCullough and WSU professor of English Jim Armstrong.
