In keeping with the focus on light from my opening address , expect a laser-like focus on our planning efforts this year. We have much to consider and accomplish.

The end of September is our deadline for responding to the long-term strategies laid out in Charting the Future, MnSCU’s draft plan to ensure extraordinary education options for all Minnesotans. Our perspectives can shape and improve this plan, and we don’t want to miss this opportunity.

At the same time, we are taking the important first steps in building our plan for Winona State. I am calling on committees, departments and divisions to examine the questions aligned with our five priorities—People, Programs, Price, Place and Pride. By the end of the semester, all constituent groups will put forward their top initiatives. In spring, our planning committees will analyze the initiatives and identify the best options. We will convene all-campus discussions in April and by the end of spring semester, I will announce our top initiatives.
