Greetings, Friends!<\/h2>\n

(With apologies to Roger Angell and Ian Frazier)<\/p>\n

Greetings, Friends, along the Mississippi;
\nIn country or city; square or hippy;
\nYou want to know what beauty is, sir? Pull
\nUp a plan for a planet more purple!<\/p>\n

How could this place be the least bit humdrum
\nWhen filled with boosters the color of plum?
\nI can assure you you\u2019re never more blissed
\nThan festooned head-to-toe in pure amethyst.
\nAnd as for vision, imagine the scope
\nOf a world ensconced in heliotrope!<\/p>\n

Three cheers for Wazoo, who\u2019s travelling the world
\nTo see that Winona State purple\u2019s unfurled.<\/p>\n

Boats on the water from here to Lake Pepin
\nStall to give praise to Jessica Hepin-
\n-stall: the hardworking, talented president
\nOf a student Senate sans precedent.
\nAnd who leads us in, in our doctoral gowns?
\nResplendent with mace, there stands Dr. Downs
\nAnd leading the whole of the ASF team?
\nWho other than a certain Tracy Rahim?
\nAFSCME has Rick, and MAPE Jay and Kay,
\nAnd managing it all, we\u2019ve got MMA.
\nHere\u2019s what I\u2019ve learned up to this point my dear:
\nOur field of talent is just without peer.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m on solid ground when I say in this nation
\nNo university has such fine administration.
\nOur new deans include Akbari, Hamid
\nIt\u2019s so clear that he means Business, indeed!
\nThe Ed Village will be a cool fort, man,
\nUp on the parapet stands Tarrell Portman!<\/p>\n

This land, these folks: the source of our power,
\nHelping the color of violet flower.
\nWhether it\u2019s lavender or periwinkle,
\nLilac or mauve, whatever the wrinkle.
\nTo be technical: Pantone Violet U.
\n(A teacher once told me just mix red with blue.)<\/p>\n

Our people make purple a beautiful color:
