As you know, Winona State is distinguished in part by its innovative use of learning technology.\u00a0 In our efforts to develop robust learning environments, WSU is launching a pilot project this year.\u00a0 Nearly 150 students will work with five members of the faculty using tablet computers in conjunction with their laptops to enhance further learning opportunities unconfined by the walls of the classroom.\u00a0 For example, students taking Professor Toby Dogwiler\u2019s course on watershed science will use waterproof iPads to collect data in the river.\u00a0 These data will be exported to the cloud to be retrieved and manipulated later on the student\u2019s laptop.\u00a0 The purpose of the project is twofold: keeping pace with our increasingly mobile society and ensuring that problem-based learning can happen everywhere and anytime.\u00a0 These pilots will generate new ideas about effective learning that may have value to other courses and programs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
