WSU’s 2015 Homecoming Court

In celebration of inclusivity and diversity, Winona State University’s 2016 Homecoming Court will be non-gendered instead of crowning a traditional king and queen.

WSU will instead be crowing two Homecoming Royalty at the coronation ceremony, who are selected by the student body as students who best represent WSU, are actively involved on campus and school spirited, and give back to their communities in a variety of ways.

WSU and the Homecoming Planning Committee is committed to cultural diversity and support by building an inclusive community through co-curricular education, community outreach, acceptance, and respect of issues related to race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, age, beliefs, ability levels, economic status, sexual identity, gender identity and religion.

The student candidates and their clubs include sophomore Derek Dravis, UPAC; senior Melody Sheppard, Chi Alpha; senior Keagan Anderson, Sigma Tau Gamma, senior Nathan Graham, Chi Alpha; junior Alexander Robinson, Delta Sigma Pi; senior Molly Martin, H2O College Ministries; junior Briana Zocher, Delta Phi Epsilon; senior Michele Borsari, Sigma Tau Gamma; junior Mariah Tweed, Sheehan Hall; and sophomore Waheed Khan, International Club.

Students nominated have to be currently be enrolled in WSU as a sophomore or above, have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or more, cannot currently be on disciplinary probation and must be nominated by a campus organization or residence hall.

The Homecoming Royalty and Court members are obligated to attend coronation events, Spirit Week activities, the Pep Fest, the Homecoming parade, WSU’s Community Tailgate Party and the football game.
