Former WSU coach and player Tyrre Burks had a special point of view when it comes to treating sports injuries.
After injuries left him on the sidelines, Burks created Players Health. The company, a HIPPA-approved record of an athlete’s medical background and history, includes any allergies or conditions, to ensure the safest route and athletic experience for the athlete. Statistics and records keep track of past occurrences in a profile of the student, helping parents, coaches and medical professionals make the best decisions for their athletes and children.
Burks admits if he had had a database option like Player’s Health when he was playing, his professional career could have lasted a lot longer. So now he’s making sure everyone else has an option.
Burks’ work and Players Health was recently honored by Google as the winner of Google Demo Day.The day connects start-up businesses from the U.S., Canada and Mexico to display their work and meet with Silicon Valley investors and mentors. Player’s Health was one of 11 start-ups in attendance judged by technology and business leaders.
As for the future, the company is starting to focus on specific injuries and conditions that have begun to plague athletes, such as cardiac issues.
