Barbara Oertel, director of Winona State University’s Warrior Success Center, was honored with the Professional Excellence Award for Administrative Service Faculty by Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU).
For the last 30 years, Oertel has worked to improve the student experience at WSU. She helped found the Warrior Success Center, the mission of which is to provide free and accessible services and resources for student success, including tutoring, advising and access services.
For Oertel, being honored by MnSCU is the result a culmination of collaborative work with students and faculty.
“This award means a great deal to me because it is about student success, which has been the focus of my entire career,” Oertel said. “I am also very honored to be representing the many dedicated and talented ASF employees across the state, all of whom deserve to be recognized for the work they do with students.”
