The Winona State University Department of Theatre and Dance will present Dancescape 2016 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, through Saturday, Feb. 20, on the Vivian Fusillo Stage in the Performing Arts Center.
This 26th annual Winona dance event will feature a range of exciting new dance works created and performed by WSU students, faculty, alumni and guest choreographers.
The Dancescape production cast and crew includes 65 members, consisting of student dancers and select student choreographers, including Corin Blazing, Kaylin Hardwig, Courtney Harms, Adyson Johnson, Hannah Lefebvre, Ailen Menendez-Butler, Kathryn Rudolph, Noah Short and Adelle Vietor. Faculty and guest artist choreography includes works by Erinn Liebhard, Genevieve Corey, dance alumnus Robert Deering, and faculty artistic director Gretchen Cohenour. Artistic collaborations include original music created by Nicolle Jensen of Santa Fe, Chicago-based composer Joyce Lindsey, and local musician Noah Short.
Liebhard, adjunct faculty member and Twin Cities-based dance artist specializing in jazz and vernacular dance, has created a rousing and groovy original work entitled “. . thWUmp . .” for WSU dance students. This dance will also be performed at the North Central Region American College Dance Association Festival, along with student choreography by Courtney Harms and WSU dance senior Hannah Lefebvre.
Following the opening night performance Thursday evening, there will be an audience ‘talk back’ session with the choreographers and designers during which audience members can ask questions and learn about dance and the creative process in producing the show.
Tickets are $12 for the public and $6 for students with an I.D. Tickets are available online at www.wsuartstickets.com or by calling the WSU box office at 507-457-5235.
